Pardubický kraj

The pardubicki land (Pardubicky kraj) lies in the eastern part of the Czech Republic. In the north it borders with Poland. It includes the following tourist regions: the Pardubicko, the Chrudimsko–Hlinecko, the Orlickie Mountains together with the foothills, the Czesko–Morawskie foothills, the Śnieżnik Kłodzki range (Kralicky Sneznik). There are here precious natural areas: The Territory of the Protected Landscape of the Iron Mountains, The Territory of the Protected Landscape of the Żdiarskie Hills, the Połabska Lowland. The majestic range of the Kłodzki Śnieżnik having the height of 1425 masl is the highest peak of the pardubicki land and the third highest mountain range in the Czech Republic. On its peak there occur the ruins of an old scenic tower of the emperor Wilhelm. A feature of the pardubicki land is the full of contrasts lie of the land: there are here both high mountain ranges and the lowland of the Łeba river. While being in the pardubicki land it is worth visiting the Zemska brana ("The Gate to the Land") reserve which is situated in the vicinity of the border with Poland as well as the picturesque narrow, full of boulders valley of the Wild Orlica river and also the Toulovcove town and the town of Mestske Mastale where you can admire fantastic rocky forms carved by erosion in sanderlings.

Horses are an inevitable element of the pardubicki land. There develops here an agrotourism which is set on a traditional horse breeding, there take place here famous field races with obstacles  (so called Velka pardubicka which has been played since the year 1874).

The capital city of this land is Pardubice. Its historical center is a city sphere of monuments limited by old city walls and a complex of the castle with a defensive system of embankments  as well as a space with a former moat filled with water. It is necessary to visit the city of Litomyśl where there is the arcade renaissance castle from the second half of the XVI century which was typed into the Cultural Heritage List UNESCO. The Kuneticka Hora fortified castle is also worth your attention, it comes from the middle of the XIV century. When there is a good visibility you may see the Karkonosze range from it.
