The Nitrzański land lies in the south – western part of Slovakia. From the south it borders with Hungary, from the north with the Trenczyński land. It included the areas of the Ponitrze region (Ponitrie) and the Naddunajski region (Podunajsko). The main rivers flowing through these territories are Wag, Nitra and Dunaj. Jihomoravský kraj
The południowomorawski land (Jihomoravsky land) borders with the żiliński land and with the ołomuniecki, pardubicki lands, Wysoczyzna and with Austria and Slovakia. The features of the landscape are lowlands and hills with extensive vineyards.
A part of the border with Austria is created by the bends of the Dyje river. In the central course of the Dyje river there had been created the Podyji National Park which is also a bio – spherical reserve. This terrain is unique on the European scale: the preserved area of a river valley in the hilly territory of central Europe with diversified plants and species of animals and with natural prime forests. The Dyje river creates valleys having the character of canyons with deep bends with "stony seas".
To the north of the city of Brno there lies the Morawski Kras – a landscape park having the territory of about 100 km². This is an area having rich forms of landscape built from the dewońskie limestones which create a true maze of hills and gorges as well as one of the cleanest regions of the Republic of Czech. There are here as many as 1100 caves and among them only 4 are available for visiting (Balcarka, Katerinska, the Sloupsko – sosuvskie and Punkevne caves). There is here also the biggest precipice in the Republic of Czech ("the Stepmother", 138, 5 m).
In the most protruded toward the south spot of the Morawy region there is located the Palava bio – spherical reserve and the Lednicko – valticky areal microregion – the land of vineyards and fertile grounds and the greatest preserved remnant of riparian forests in Europe. The castles in the towns of Lednice and Valtice are on the UNESCO list.
The capital city of the południowomorawski land and the historical capital city of the whole Morawy region is Brno, the second biggest city in the Republic of Czech. It is worth seeing among others the Spilberk castle: the early – gothic palace which had been in the XIX century “the prison of nations” as well as the gothic cathedral of saint Peter and Paul, the town hall (the XVI century) and a few interesting examples of the modernism architecture (among others the Tugendhat villa from the 1929 year according to the design of the German architect Miese van der Rohe).
