Olomoucký kraj

The ołomuniecki land (Olomoucky kraj) includes the central and the northern part of the Morawy region and the fragments of the Lower and Upper Silesia. It consists of the Jesioniki mountain range with the foothills (which are a Landscape Park), the picturesque Prostejova region which has the territory of 770 km² and which includes the Hana plateau (in the western part) and the Drahanska Upland (in the east), the Prerov region on which the Hana plateau turns into the so – called Moravska Gate region where there dominate the Oderskie Mountains, and the Olomouca region with the Hornomoravsky Uval plateau (this is an exceptionally fertile terrain which has been called Hana since the Middle Ages). The axis of the region is the Becva river which flows in the Moravy region. Big natural attractions of the ołomuniecki land are the Zbrasovskie aragonitowe caves with geyser swellings and the Hranicka precipice which is partly flooded with water and is the deepest precipice in the Republic of Czech (329,5 m). Very interesting places are also the picturesque area of lakes and ponds in the Tovacovie region and woods around the Helfstyn castle. The whole ołomuniecki land is covered by a dense network of marked tourist trails.

The ołomuniecki land is rich in mineral waters. There take place here numerous health resorts: Bludov, Lipova – lazne, Skalka, Slatinice, Teplice and Becva, Velke Losiny, Jesenik.

The capital city of the land, Ołomuniec, called "the pearl on a green pillow" has the second biggest and oldest, after Prague, monuments sphere in the Republic of Czech. In the place of defensive walls there had been built in the XIX century the strip of parks and orchards. It is worth visiting the bishop house of saint Wacław, the bishop palace in the Romanesque style, the Upper and Lower Market, the gothic parish church of saint Morice, the Baroque fountains: Cezar’s, Herkules’, Jupiter’s, Trytoni’s and the Holy Trinity column which is on the list of UNESCO monuments (the example of the "ołomuniecki Baroque").
