LOCATION

The zachodniopomorskie province is located in the north – western part of Poland along the coastline of the Baltic Sea. The whole region is divided into 17 districts, 114 communes and it has 61 cities, the biggest ones being: the cities of Szczecin, Stargard Szczeciński, Świnoujście and Kołobrzeg. Szczecin is the administrative center of the province. The whole province covers the territory of 22902 km².

NATURE AND TOURISM

This region disposes magnificent tourist values. The biggest aggregations of centers that pay tourist services occur on the coast. There spread here baths which are reckoned as the cleanest baths in the middle of the coast and that have wonderful sandy beaches. To these there belong the cities and the towns of: Świnoujście, Darłówek, Kamień Pomorski, Ustronie Morskie, Międzyzdroje, Dziwnów, Dźwirzyno, Mrzeżyno, Jarosławiec, Pobierowo, Mielno, Darłowo, Kołobrzeg. Besides broad sandy beaches, protected by woody dunes, you can meet here a high cliff coast with picturesque precipices which have been created through the sea activity. In the seaside strip there also occur coastal lakes (Jamno, Wicko, Bukowo). Tourists who desire an active recreation may use the canoe trails on the rivers (Parsęta, Wieprza). The Woliński National Park is a special attraction of the district; it is precious due to its natural and landscape values (post – glacial lakes, the cliff coast, woods which are the sanctuary of a predatory bird the white eagle). It is also worth visiting the neighborhood of the Drawskie Lakeland which is compared to the surrounding of the Masurian Lakeland due to its values connected with the lakes. Thanks to wonderful climate values and to the occurrence of mineral waters (brines) and cowberries, a few towns have the status of spas.
