LOCATION

The świętokrzyskie province is situated in the south – eastern part of Poland in the area of the Kielecko – Sandomierska Upland and the Nidziańska Niecka and constitutes a part of historical grounds of the Małopolska region. This province is cut by significant thoroughfares (international ways E-77 and E- 371, a broad – gauge former Smelting – Sulphuric Line (Linia Hutniczo – Siarkowa) and the Central Train Trunk Line (Centralna Magistrala Kolejowa), and its capital city – Kielce – is located at the distance of only 120 – 180 km from the biggest Polish agglomerations: The Upper Silesia (Górny Śląsk), Warszawa, Łódź and Kraków. This district does not directly border with any country, however it lies at the distance of almost 200 km from the Polish border with Slovakia and Ukraine where you can freely get by convenient routes. The airport located in Masłów near the city of Kielce facilitates the communication with the world.

NATURE AND TOURISM

The świętokrzyski region has very precious landscape values which places it in the group of provinces which are interesting as far tourism is concerned. It disposes a clean environment, a diversified landscape (the Kielecko – Sandomierska Upland with the Świętokrzyskie Mountains that belong to the oldest mountains in Europe), numerous caves and caverns, big forest complexes led by the Świętokrzyska Wood (forests cover the territory of 27,6 % of the general area of the province), water reservoirs, precious monuments of architecture and construction and museum collections. The świętokrzyskie province is the ideal place for doing many types of active tourism, especially walking, bicycle, water, skiing, air and climbing tourism. There take place here numerous interesting cultural, sport and recreational events every year. In the recent years there have come to life many agrotourist farmsteads which very often also offer health food produced in the run at the same time ecological farmsteads.
