LOCATION

The podkarpackie province is located in the south – eastern part of Poland. It covers the territory of 17926 km², it is divided into 20 districts, 4 cities having district rights, it has 160 communes and 45 cities. The city of Rzeszow is the administrative center and the seat of provincial authorities. The biggest cities are: Rzeszow, Przemysl, Krosno, Mielec, Stalowa Wola.

NATURE AND TOURISM

Thanks to a well – managed terrain, numerous tourist trails, the mountain area of the Bieszczady range, many monuments this is one of the most attractive tourist – recreational regions of Poland. The most willingly visited districts are: the Beskidy Wschodnie range together with the Bieszczady range, the Pogorze Srodkowo – Beskidzkie range and the Roztocze range, magnificently suited for doing mountain tourism and for skiing. There has been created here the Bieszczadzki National Park which delights with diversified rocky forms, clean rivers, often diversified waterfalls, flora and fauna (a wonderful experience is provided by the famous “Bieszczadzka loop” and by a narrow – gauge railway ride).

It is worth visiting the surrounding of the Solinskie Lake and the Myczkowskie Lake with a well – developed tourist basis. This region also takes an important place among curative regions due to numerous towns that have a spa status (the basis are mineral waters). Peculiarities worth seeing are also: The Dukielska Mountain Saddle “the Valley of Death” and the neighborhood of the town of Iwla with a preserved battlefield from the period of the year 1944. In the whole district there are strongly alive cultural traditions, numerous folklore traditions, ceremonies, music folk bands and bands.

MONUMENTS

The podkarpackie province is a region that disposes a great number of monuments. These are among others: the Lobomirskie Castle in the city of Rzeszow, the Oborski Palace in the town of Mielec, The Dzikowski Castle in the town of Tarnobrzeg, the Orsettich House in the town of Jaroslaw, the Lubomirski Castle in the town Lancut, the castle in the town of Baranow Sandomierski.
