LOCATION

The kujawsko – pomorskie province is situated in the middle – northern part of Poland. It covers the territory of 17970 km². It is divided into 19 districts, 144 communes and 51 cities. The administrative centers are: the city of Bydgoszcz (the seat of the provincial governor) and the city of Toruń (the seat of the regional council).

NATURE AND TOURISM

This region disposes magnificent natural values and a huge number of monuments which make it a significant tourist district. In the northern part of the province there spread wonderful terrains of the Tucholskie Woods which have clean rivers and lakes. The greatest aggregation of the tourist basis consists of the surrounding of the Brda and Wda rivers which belong to the most beautiful regions in the country. The Brodnickie Lakeland is the most willingly visited place by  tourists; it disposes an agglomeration of tens of lakes (the Strażym lake, the Sosno lake, the Zbiczno lake, the Bachotek lake) that are located in the woods. It is also worth visiting the neighborhood of the valley of the Drwęca river whose waters together with its tributaries create one of the most attractive canoe trails. In the surrounding of the lakes Gople and Włocławskie, there are situated numerous water sports centers. If you are in this region, make sure you visit the town of Biskupin. There occurs here a reconstructed defensive settlement coming from the łużycka culture dating back to 2500 years ago. A part of the piastowski trail runs through the province. This region also disposes three famous spas that have curative waters (thermal brines). The most precious monuments are located in the city of Toruń whose old – city architectural complex has been typed into the Cultural and Natural World Heritage List UNESCO. A unique landscape and a unique type of medieval monuments in specific regions of this province constitute its peculiar feature.
