LOCATION

The dolnośląskie province is situated in the south – western part of Poland. It covers the territory of 19948 km² and is divided into 26 districts, 4 cities having district rights, it has 169 communes and 89 cities. Wrocław is the administrative center and the seat of provincial authorities. The biggest cities are: Wrocław, Jelenia Góra, Lubin and Wałbrzych. The province of Lower Silesia disposes a well – developed road – train network with the most important  thoroughfare - the A4 expressway - on the route Berlin – Katowice. Two international airports: Wrocław – Starachowice and Lubin enable air connections.

NATURE AND TOURISM

Thanks to a well – managed terrain, numerous tourist trails, the mountain region of the Sudety range, many monuments, this is one of the most significant tourist – recreational regions of Poland. Karkonosze range – magnificently suited for doing mountain tourism and skiing – are the most willingly visited district. Here there was created a National Park which delights with various rocky forms, clean rivers that are often diversified by waterfalls, flora and fauna. It is worth visiting the surrounding of the Kłodzka valley where there occure interesting Table Mountains with rich rocky forms, mazes, waterfalls and gorges running along the river valleys.
It is worth hiking the highest peak of the Sudety range – the Snowy Mountain from where there spread magnificent views, and see the biggest cave in those mountains, the Bear Cave (about 3 km of length) and the wonderful waterfall Wilczki (27 km of length). This region takes an important place among the curative districts, due to numerous towns having a spa status (the basis are mineral waters). There are here peculiarities worth seeing such as: “the Racławicka panorama” – exhibited in the Rotunda in Wrocław, the Skull Chapel in Czermna and the Ślęża edifice which is a former pagan cult place.
